Transport Caff – Saturday 27th February

This months cafe will have the theme of transport. So if you are interested in how transport can be sustainable in the future please come along and learn all about the potential for car clubs, electric cars and cycling amongst others.

We have a very interesting and packed morning about all things transport. We’re going to kick off with a talk about our Car Club project from Mark Hodgson who has successfully set up the car club in Exeter and will be helping to set up our very own one here in Taunton. This will be followed by a talk from Jim Duncan of Reaction Electric about electric vehicles and Bob Chard, professional transport planner – Associate of the Sustainable Transport Company Ltd. (Sustraco) and their business development manager for Australia will be talking about Ultra Light Railways and later we will be looking at public transport with our local Tauntonian, John Ainsworth.

A Seed Swap will be running from 10.30am – to get ready for the busy growing season.

In the afternoon, from 1pm, we are having a pot luck lunch (which means everyone brings some food / dish to share), then our Recession Busting Project get together for possible volunteers to find out more and to get some projects together will start at 2pm.

Plus at 1pm, Nicola will be available to show people some off-road cycle routes around Taunton. So if you would like to find out more then bring your bike for a half hour bike ride. (Let me assure you that if you were wanting to join in the pot luck lunch then there will be food left for you and the get together won’t start until our cyclists return.)

Here’s a rough itinerary for the morning:

  • 10.30am – Seed Swap (continuing throughout the morning)
  • 10.45am – Car Club
  • 11.15am – Electric Vehicles
  • 11.45am – Ultra Light Railway
  • 12.15pm – Public Transport
  • 1.00pm – Cycle ride

We hope to see you there!
