Some amazing facts about waste :

• In 2006/7 we produced nearly 270,000 tonnes of household waste in Somerset – the same as the weight of 18,000 double decker buses.

• A third of all food waste is simply good food thrown away because of over-buying or not using up left-overs. This costs the average family £400-£680 a year.

• Landfill costs in Somerset are now over £68 per tonne.

Remember if you recycle more it will help to reduce your council tax bill.  Now, that is a real benefit.
