Many Hands Make Light Work

If you want to be involved in a work party in Longrun Meadow to restore a pond make this date in your diary.
One thing that needs to be done very soon is to start to remove some of the Himalayan Balsam that is well established around the pond before it flowers and seeds. It is an invasive plant that should be managed.
Somerset Wildlife Trust group and the Friends of Longrun Meadow will meet in Longrun Meadow this Sunday to pull up the Balsam. Its easy as has short roots.
If you are able to help out or encourage and friends or family along that would be great. Bring a pair of gardening gloves as some of the balsam is amongst the nettles and potentially your wellies as their is some water in the pond!!
From 2pm-4pm
Sunday 12th June
The pond is quite near the new Green Cathedral.
A few brave souls ventured out into the pouring rain to take part in the pond restoration work. Just with our small merry band of workers (4!) we managed to pull up quite alot of the troublesome Himalayan Balsam. Another work party will be organised shortly and do come along even if it is raining.
