Restore a Pond

The Friends of Longrun Meadow are currently working on a conservation project  and have just started some sessions to restore the pond near the willow cathedral.    The long term aim is to restore it to a wildlife pond.  The first job is to remove the invasive Himalayan Balsam which threatens to take over all the vegetation there.  A start has been made, but it needs to be finished before the it seeds itself.

The working parties this month are:

1) Sunday 10th July 2pm – 5pm ish

2) Tuesday 12th July 6.30pm

3) Thursday 14th July 6.30pm

4) Wednesday 20th July 6.30pm

If you can come along and help you will be most welcome – the more come the quicker it gets cleared so feel free to invite friends and family too.  There are some nettles and parts of it are boggy so we suggest you wear boots and gardening type gloves.
