The Council resolves to:
(i) Support the National Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill
(ii) Inform the local media of this decision;
(iii) Write to local MPs, asking them to support the Bill; and
(iv) Write to the CEE Bill Alliance (www.ceebill.uk), the organisers of the
campaign for the Bill, expressing its support (campaign@ceebill.uk).
Find out more about the CEE Bill and what are the aims –
The CEE Bill is urging for the Prime Minister to achieve climate and ecology objectives; to give
the Secretary of State a duty to create and implement a strategy to achieve those objectives; to establish a Citizens’ Assembly to work with the Secretary of State in creating that strategy; to give duties to the Committee on Climate Change regarding the objectives and strategy.
The key part to the bill is the Citizens’ Assembly to be brought together to learn from experts and provide a strategy to achieve climate and ecology objectives. What an opportunity to include the views and opinions of the diverse citizens of the UK.
