Taunton Environment Network – Open Meeting

The Taunton Environment Network are holding an open meeting on Wednesday 31 March 2021, 7pm. It includes two talks as per below.



Water – it’s essential and pleasant but comes with problems, downpours and drought – Ian Myers

An overview of water pollution and the key issues facing us both nationally and locally, aiming to explain and inform. 
Ian currently works for the Environment Agency as a senior technical advisor and has over 30 years experience dealing with water quality and pollution developing policies and operational practices to improve water quality and its management.
Ian says  “I have previously been in operational roles in NE Wales and Merseyside/West Lancashire and Wessex mostly in water and groundwater quality but have also regulated waste sites, landfills and major industrial enterprises and many other roles. I used to be responsible for the River Tone and West Somerset catchments and also managed East and West Somerset pollution teams before moving to a national role”.

Feed our Future – Catherine Cannon

Working with councils to encourage tangible steps towards meeting our climate targets, and laying the foundation for the next generation to have a more conscious relationship to food and the natural ecosystems we rely on.  
Catherine comes from a farming family – her mother, uncle and grandfather were Somerset dairy farmers.   The campaign she is leading – ‘Feed Our Future’ – is about urging decision makers to review and examine school food policy in relation to the declared climate emergency
