Food, growing and gardening projects are vital for the health and wellbeing of our communities, especially during times of economic hardship.
Co-hosted by Spark Somerset and Somerset Community Food (SCF).
Whether you’re involved with a local allotment, community fridge or foodbank, therapeutic garden, cooking class or any other initiative which uses food, growing and gardening to support positive change, please come and join us for the chance to network and share peer support, learning and best practice.
Susie Weldon, trustee of Sustainable Food Somerset and one of the founders of the Somerset Food Trail, will tell us more about this year’s event which is taking place from Friday 18 to Sunday 27 July. We’ll learn the aims of the trail, the activities, and how community food initiatives can get involved.
Shepton Mallet Community Fridge pioneer and co-organiser of the ‘Waste-Not Want-Not’ community event, Vix Ross, will speak about how food support and education is benefitting local residents. We’ll also hear from Angus Lavery, who’ll share his skills and knowledge in a 10-minute, whistle-stop tour of easy ways to regrow plants from the parts of vegetables that most of us discard.
Tickets to this forum are freely available to voluntary organisations, social enterprises and individuals involved in community growing, food and gardening projects in Somerset.
